1. Vinayaka Chathurthi:-

Whatever new thing we start we always start by praying to Lord Ganesha, this is our culture.

So yearly once Ganesha Pooha is celebrated, Vinayaka Chathurthi comes between August 15th and September 15th on the fourth day after the new moon.

On that day we buy Ganesha idol made by clay, we will also buy flowers, fruits for the pooja. At home we will make Kolukattai (a sweet made with rice flour & coconut and jaggery). We will also make payasam, sundal etc.

Then we will start decorating Ganesha Idol. We will keep the idol in the pooja room and put a dress for the idol, decorate it with flowers, sandal etc.

Then we will keep all the food items prepared for the pooja in a banana leaf infront of the idol in the pooja room. Then you take in book (Viradha Kalpa Manjari or Pooja Viradham) and start pooja. Take Karpoora Aarthi (Camphor) then pray to God ask him your wishes and then Namaskaram.

You may also call your friends and relatives for the pooja and share the sweets and food, have a nice talk with them, sing some Ganesha slogans or songs together and enjoy the day.

After a days work go to bed and listen your hubby saying what a good day we both enjoyed.

Next day morning wake up and bath then put the Ganesha Idol in river or well.

I would talk about the next important festival soon keep waiting next one is coming soon.
